Reviews Overview

Most Liked

One common favorite at Windmill is the Salt and Pepper Chicken, which many rave about for its crispy texture and robust flavor. Customers also appreciate the generous portion sizes, particularly in comparison to the very reasonable price point. The late-night offerings cater well to those seeking comfort food after hours. Many reviews highlight the flavorsome chicken burgers and the consistently tasty chips, which are a perfect accompaniment to any dish. Speedy service adds to the overall satisfaction, making it a go-to spot for a quick yet hearty meal. Lastly, the friendly staff often leaves diners with an overall positive experience.

Most Disliked

Parking can be a challenge near Windmill, as street spaces are limited, often leading to frustration for those driving. Customers also note that the restaurant operates on a cash-only basis, which can be inconvenient for those who prefer card payments. While many dishes are praised, a small number of diners find the occasional inconsistency in food preparation, particularly during busy hours. Some may also consider the casual dining atmosphere too laid-back, not suitable for special occasions. However, these issues seem minor compared to the overall positive experiences shared by patrons.

Our go to Chinese in Lancaster. We lived round the corner at the beginning of the year and now we live in Heysham and we still drive to get this food. It is so cheap, and tastes so good. Salt and pepper chicken and the sweet and sour chicken is really good Payment is via cash or bank transfer We have not tried the chippy but the prices are really good

Delivered next door, went in today and got a cheesey chips and battered jumbo sausage, and can of Fanta lemon honestly it wasn’t what I expected, absolutely beautiful flavour, Can - absolutely freezing cold, like just before it turns to ice, perfectly hot the spot, drank it in the shop whilst my food was cooking Cheesey chips - they were cooked really well soft and squishy, sweet tasting, greasy, filling, the cheese was also sweet tasting not strong, a good amount of cheese, and a good portion size, they tasted very clean like they had been cleaning the fryers out regularly Battered sausage - Oh god, the batter was crunchy and nice and vinegar covered perfectly salted, cooked to perfection, it was golden and had no taste of burning or fish, it was porky but not to porky, no weird after taste, it was absolutely fantastic Highly highly recommend! If you love a greasy tasting old days style chippy tea then this is the place, I shall be visiting it again! Only downfall, is terrible for parking, and unfortunately cash only. But it really is worth it, priced fairly
